Manager, Electrical Engineering


Hauni Richmond has an immediate need for an Electrical Engineering Manager.  This high- profile position requires an experienced engineer with a work history that includes new developments and series machines.  The Manager will lead an experienced and knowledgeable team of seven electrical designers, programmers, and a team of four in technical clarification, who are responsible for processing quotes, orders, and conducting audits of completed machines and kits.  Our market is well established, global oriented, and constantly evolving.  This is a great opportunity for growth in a market leader with an international presence.


Hauni Richmond supports a local and international market for new custom developments, refurbished machinery, and electrical obsolescence kits.  The Electrical Engineering Manager will work closely with the Mechanical Engineering Manager and two Project Mangers under the leadership of the Engineering Director.  Our Richmond products are installed in the USA and around the world, including ongoing work in South America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. 


Candidates should have hands on engineering experience and be familiar with panel design and automation programming.  Excellent project management experience including monitoring of scope, schedule, and budget is required.  Candidates should be used to working in a collaborative environment, working closely with Production, Service, Purchasing, and other partners to plan projects and solve problems.  Networking with customers as well as other Hauni groups around the world is required.  We find creative solutions to customer needs, including creating new products for Hauni and want you to contribute to our team.


Responsibilities include:


  • Hardware and software design for all equipment, including new local developments, R&D, serial equipment, and support for machine refurbishments
  • Provide technical direction of the team’s solutions; oversee design reviews; organize testing as needed
  • Oversee technical clarification, including maintaining processes and schedule, and ensuring thorough audits of kits and machinery
  • Challenge and motivate a diverse team with complex and detailed work
  • Support all employees in training and day-to-day work; manage capacity planning; schedule workload and assignments; manage priorities; organize design software, Hauni standards, and technology training
  • Collaborate with headquarters supporting development projects; develop strong connections with R&D, Engineering, and Management teams in Hamburg headquarters
  • Collaborate with Sales on quotes, project planning, labor, and parts cost estimating
  • Leading technical discussions with customers
    • Conduct feasibility studies, prototyping, and full development projects
    • Manage competing priorities successfully




  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or similar field
  • Seven plus years of high-speed automation design and development preferred; experience with Siemens, AMK, Beckhoff, ELCAD, and EPLAN a plus
  • Proficiency with electrical hardware design, programming and related topics
  • Experience managing engineering teams in technical projects preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Personnel development experience preferred
  • Clear communicator with both verbal and written communication; experienced with and good comfort level with presentations to a wide variety of audiences, including customers and senior management
  • Experience with agile management techniques such as SCRUM preferred
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office software, SAP, and MS Project
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Working knowledge of German language beneficial
