For our location in Berlin we are looking for

Head of Fullstack Engineering for Proof-of-Concept (PoC) Factory (m/f/d)

Tasks:

The PoC Factory is a team of full stack developers who build proof-of-concepts (PoCs) so that digital initiatives can be evaluated with potential users of the final application at an early stage. It is key for this team to quickly build software that provides a great user experience and lets users assess the key features of the future product. For that, it is not necessary to have a fully functional, scalable and robust software. For successful PoCs, Körber Digital’s engineering team will then implement sellable products.

  • Manage a cross-location team of up to 12 full stack developers, which from 4 squads of which each one is building a PoC at a time
  • Build up the organization to the target size of around 12 full-time employees by hiring the best talents with a focus on technical and non-technical (soft) skills
  • Ensure a high level of efficiency in our PoC projects by
    • Fostering a great working environment for highly skilled and motivated developers
    • Supporting the personal growth of employees concerning their technical and non-technical skill sets
    • Living a culture that is based on the hunger for success, trust, respect and willingness to support other team members
    • Understanding and respecting the needs and aspirations of digital natives
  • Maintain a close collaboration to other teams within Körber Digital, especially engineering and product management
  • Supervise PoC projects and ensure their timely and successful completion

Qualifications:

  • Good management and communication skills that are well-adopted to the specific needs of digital natives
  • Profound knowledge in software development through several years of practical development experience
  • Ability to estimate efforts and to assess project risks
  • Capability to effectively interact with customers, management and other employees of Körber who don’t have a technical background
  • Fluent in English (written and oral), proficiency in German would be beneficial

  • VP Breakthrough Technologies as direct superior manager
  • Heads of CoEs and VP Engineering as responsible managers for developers/software engineers/data scientists, who will work in joint projects and product development initiatives
  • Product owners of digital initiatives, for which PoCs should be developed
  • Körber Digital’s CTO as responsible senior executive
  • Other managers within Körber Digital, especially Head of Product Management
  • Stakeholders in other companies within the group e.g. CDOs in other business areas
  • Customers in the context of common projects
